Design of the FLAVIA Filterpack

FLAVIA’s unique Filterpack acts as a brewing chamber to produce freshly brewed coffee or tea. The pack has been designed with minimal materials and is extremely lightweight. In fact, the average Filterpack weigh less than half of a soft drink bottle cap (0.8oz), almost one quarter of the weight of a Kenco single pack and half that of a Keurig K-cup (as measured on July 07). Although our FLAVIA Filterpacks are very light, we are still continually looking for solutions to minimise their size and over the last three years have reduced the weight of our FLAVIA Filterpacks for tea by 20%.

Just as important as the Filterpack is the tea and coffee it contains. Every year almost 7 million tonnes of food waste is generated in the UK and this figure is even greater in countries like the US. Our FLAVIA Filterpacks help reduce waste by ensuring that only the amount of coffee or tea needed to make a drink is actually used.

FLAVIA also has a special ‘multi-layer’ design, which ensures that our coffee and tea remains fresh for up to 12 months. In contrast, in bean to cup systems, old, unused and stale coffee beans are regularly wasted.
